Hooray to choose your own adventure bookclub this past Thursday.  Mehul & Liz were great hosts, with a plethora of pizza mias and peach cobbler.  Our adventures in the Mayan ruins were interesting – from heading up to space to traveling back (and forward) in time.  Liz and I had the same adventure – and it rocked I may add. Thanks to Melanie for some of the pics!

Rock & Roll Mystery was at hit!

The second installment of CYOAB went down on Thurs 5/1 (belated for the month of April due to Nick’s trip to Wisconsin). It was an interesting evening…. Potbelly sandwiches were good! Story was longer than last time, and my adventure at least was a rush to get to the end so that I could stop reading and watch the Office.

Another thing we started this year was a book club for the two of us, since we always read books and want the other to read them but then with all of our own books… aha, the dilemna. So anyhow, this year we are doing an NJ&CJ bookclub on our anniversary every month to discuss whatever book the other wanted us to read. In February, I read “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver and gave that to Nick as my pick for him in February too so that it would be fresh in both of our minds for discussion.

The menu for this week was inspired by the book, as it contains recipes for each season. The recipes in the book can also be found online.

First Course: Sweet Potato Quesadillas
Second Course: Chicken Recuerdos De Tucson
Third Course: Lite variation of Basil-Blackberry Crumble
Beverage: Czechvar Beer (yep, we’ve still got a bit of it in the fridge!)

I’m missing bookclub tonight so that I can get my study on for the test on Thursday. Taking a quick moment to daydream about a day, about 6 weeks from now, when I will be done with my Masters and won’t have to be a lame lame student.

In other news – the book for this month, A Thousand Splendid Suns, was really good! Highly recommended.
